Jammu, Sep 26: Rajeev Charak, State Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party and incharge Training department today assured agitation Mid Day Meals workers including men and women engaged for cooking meals in Government Schools that all their genuine demands would be fulfill. Interacting with a delegation of Mid Day Meals workers Rajeev Charak said that Union Government led by dynamic Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to up lift the status of downtrodden. “People of Jammu and
Kashmir got special attention from government and we will not leave anyone in the journey of development and progress,” he said. Earlier, the deputation of Mid Day Meals workers including men and women engaged for cooking meals in Government Schools today called on Rajeev Charak, state vice president BJP and in-charge training department and apprised him about their long pending demand of hike in their remuneration/ wages. Under the aegis of Cook Helper Association of District Ramban, the delegation informed the BJP leader that Cook and helper engaged in MDM Scheme of Education Department for the last many years on the monthly meager wages of worth Rs 1000, which is too less to survives.
“One cannot do anything with the Rs 1000 that we are getting monthly. Imagine that we have to cook for 40-60 children at every Government school where we are working. We have to cook the meals and then serve the same, that takes a lot of energy and what we are being paid is very meager,” a member told BJP leader.
“We are having large members of family to support and due to low wages; we are not able to meet out the expenses of family. We have already conveyed our genuine demands to the concerned authorities for enhancement of wages but so far nothing has been done in this regards,” they said.
Keeping in view the above mentioned facts, the Association Cooks/Helpers of District Ramban request the BJP leader to intervene and enhance the monthly wage of MDM workers from 1000 to Rs 15000.
